Humboldt County is a very beautiful place to live. It spans from the Pacific Ocean and its beaches to the west, to many river valleys and mountain ranges as one travels inland. Humboldt County is a well kept secret with only 130,000 people in an area of 3500 square miles. It's climate is temperate.

Humboldt State University and College of the Redwoods offer enrichment and activities for all age groups. Arts flourish here, earning national awards.

National, state, and local parks abound, giving one access to beaches, primordial redwoods, or the warmer inland river valleys.

Trinidad overlooks the Pacific Ocean and has spectacular views of the coast, in addition to redwood forests, wild rhododendrons, and lagoons nearby. Lagoons include Big Lagoon, Freshwater Lagoon, and Dry Lagoon, where agate hunters can be particularly successful.

Arcata is home to Humboldt State University, and like Eureka, Fortuna, and Ferndale, is rich in diversity of architectural styles. The Arcata Marsh, Redwood Park, Farmer's Markets, Schatz Fuel Cell Lab, and health food stores and restaurants hint at some of the diversity to be found here.

Blue Lake enjoys the world famous Dell' Arte Players, warmer weather, Mad River, and, like nearby Fieldbrook, views of trees and mountains almost anywhere you look.

Eureka is the largest city in Humboldt County, and is near to College of the Redwoods, many government offices, and a thriving arts community. The marina, harbor, Sequoia Park, and the most shopping are to be found here.
